One year later…

I finally picked up Twisted Metal for PS3. I originally had it pre-ordered around the same time last year. About a week before release (2/14), I was getting some fierce lag in my Motorstorm game and one day the game just froze. The blu-ray drive was busted. A year’s worth of distractions delayed my eventual purchase of a newer PS3. Once I had it, I had forgotten about the other intended purchase, until after posting about Twisted Metal 2.

Needless to say, I’m pretty excited to finally have the game. I tried out the multiplayer beta and it looked awesome. The full version has not disappointed and has proven to be very challenging in the single player story. In the series, there’s always one vehicle in particular that stands out among the rest. It was generally used as a boss fight, driven by a character known as Minion.  He’s usually a demon driving some sort of tank. Neither he nor his tank are in this game, but there’s something that had me giggling and cackling when I finally got behind the wheel. Have a look. 🙂

Juggernaut can be a bit clumsy to operate sometimes and has a few vulnerabilities (increased damage with the trailer door open), but it’s oh so satisfying. On my first deathmatch run, I even managed to score a trophy for a kill shot from full health. Speaking of trophies, this set is no joke. There are some serious silver and gold challenges I hope to complete someday.
